Research Associate

Mariangela Scalise, PhD

Mariangela is currently a Research Associate in the Experimental and Clinical Medicine Department @UMG.

She obtained the Master Philosophy (M.Phil.) Degree in “Molecular Medicine and Biotechnologies” at the University Magna Graecia (UMG) in 2008 and her master’s degree in Biotechnology at the same University in 2011. Then she obtained the PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering from UMG in 2015, during which she joined the MaCCardio LAB having Prof. Daniel Torella as her thesis co-supervisor. In September 2022, she completed her residency in Clinical Pathology and Clinical Biochemistry at UMG’s School of Medicine.

Her current research interests span from the fields of molecular and cellular biology to laboratory methods for clinical pathology and biochemistry. She focuses her main activities and responsibilities in the phenotypic characterization of cardiac stem cells from the adult heart using FACS analysis, rt-PRC, immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry.
